Multiple Injury Accident in Construction Zone in Lowville

Five people were injured in a 3 car motor vehicle accident at  the construction zone in
Lowville yesterday morning. Charges are pending against a 92 year old woman who allegedly
went past the construction flag person at a higher rate of speed striking two
other vehicles moving through the construction zone..

Lowville Village Police reported to local media that  Katherine
Rozanski of Lowville apparently dropped her purse on the floor of her car; when
she tried to move it with her feet, the vehicle accelerated and slammed into
the vehicle in front of her driven by 21 year old Scott teal of  Lowville.  His car was shoved out of the way and Officials said Rozanski's car then struck a third vehicle in front of her driven by 62
year old Lester Schermerhorn of Castorland. Flag workers in the construction
zone were forced to jump out of the way, police said.

In all, five people were hurt, including Rozanski, her two passengers, 83 year
olds Herbert and Bernadette Farney of Lowville, Scott Teal, the driver of the
second car as well as a passenger in the third car, 50 year old Peggy Hosmer.
All injured were taken to Lewis County General Hospital for treatment of their
injuries. South State Street was closed for two hours until the scene could be
cleared. The accident is still under investigation.
