Rome woman injured in two car vehicle accident

Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Rome woman was sent to the hospital Friday evening after a two car accident in the City of Rome. Wendy Chargo of Rome was traveling East on River Road near the intersection of Route 365 when a vehicle traveling West, driven by 51 year old William Iffert of Clinton, crossed over the center line striking the side of Chargo’s vehicle. Iffert then left the scene of the accident. Later Iffert and his vehicle were located on River Road near Taft Road by the Rome Police Dept. Iffert was arrested for DWI and received traffic tickets for failture to keep right and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Chargo was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by Am Care Ambulance with complaints of neck and back pain. Rome Police Dept, Rome Fire Dept, and Am Care assisted at the scene.
