Three Carthage men face burglary charges after allegedly being caught stealing electrical wire
from the closed Deferiet paper mill.
New York State police arrested 33 year old Kevin Come, Jr., 30 year old Andrew LaFave and 43 year old Scott Honness after they received a report about a suspicious vehicle near the site of the old Champion Paper Mill on Wednesday. The responding trooper located the three suspects inside - allegedly removing electrical wire.
Each was charged with a felony count of third-degree burglary. Honness was additionally charged with unlawful
possession of marijuana after he was allegedly found in possession of a smoking pipe containing marijuana residue.
All three men were arraigned in Carthage Village Court. Honness and Come were released on their own recognizance. LaFave was remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building Jail in lieu
of $2,500 cash bail.
The NY State Police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County
Sheriff's Department and the Black River/Evans Mills Police Department.
