Fatal Accident in Montague

Lewis County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a one car, one person fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred around 12:37PM at the intersection of Gardner road and sears pond road in the town of Montague. Preliminary investigation reveals that a vehicle being operated northbound on sears pond road exited the right side of the roadway at the Gardner road intersection and then became airborne and struck a tree further information to be released pending the notification of next of kin.. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The Lewis County Sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by EMS 1, New York State Police, Lewis County Search and Rescue and Lowville Fire.
