Forestport Man Charged with Second Degree Murder

on Tuesday, 25 June 2013.

An Oneida County Court judge has denied bail for the Forestport man charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife.

45 year old Stacey Utter was found dead in the couple's home on Trestle Road in the Town of Foresport on June 11. An autopsy revealed she had been shot two times.

Investigators said that her husband, Larry Utter had called 911 to report a shooting inside the residence and told authorities that he accidentally shot his wife. When officers and EMS entered the residence, they found his wife dead and Utter was taken into custody.

Authorities said that law enforcement had responded to the residence twice in the last year for domestic incidents, but that no arrests were ever made. Family members told police that there had been recent domestic tension between the two and that Stacey had been staying elsewhere in the days before the incident.

On Monday, Utter's Public Defender, Dave Cook requested that motion for bail be set at $50,000. But Oneida County Court Judge Michael Dwyer denied the request
