Tipping fees at the Lowville transfer site are going up. The Lewis County Board of Legislators unanimously approved a $3-per-ton increase on residential and commercial waste from $76 to $79. The new price goes into effect January 1st. Officials stated that the increase is to reflect the Development Authority of the North Country increasing their tipping fee $5 per ton. Lewis County enacted a $2-per-ton increase in June. The Board of Legislators also decided to cut funding to the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce for the I Love NY program by 10% Legislators have also asked county Departments to cut 10% from their budgets for 2013 according to Watertown Media Sources.
