Local Police attend synthetic drug class

on Friday, 05 October 2012.

Local Police department members along with County Sheriff’s office, State Police and Ft Drum Military Police attend a workshop to help combat and prevent synthetic drug usage around the state hosted by the Oneida Nation Police Force.

The goal of the workshop was to get every agency on the same page about how to respond to the problems and health risks caused by synthetic drugs, such as bath salts. They also stress the importance of approaching the user in the safest way possible. Police were also trained how to safely handle users so that they do not die in custody.
