GLENFIELD – Karl Michael Krokowski, 58, of Schoolhouse Road, passed away Tuesday morning, May 28, 2013, at Lewis County General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and close friends, after a long and courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Salem Christian Fellowship, Beaver Falls, with Rev. Bryan Catlin, Pastor, officiating. Calling hours are Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karl’s name to 3G Fire Department, P.O. Box 112, Glenfield, NY 13343 or to a local volunteer organization of your choice. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna; two sons, Todd R. and his wife, Jessica, of Niskayuna, NY; Andrew J. of Glenfield; his most loved grandson, Samuel Jameson Krokowski; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Patricia Krokowski of Constableville; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jerry Weiman of Watertown; aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a huge extended family and many, many friends. He is predeceased by his parents. Karl was born on April 26, 1955 in Lowville, a son of the late Alexander and Edith Hicks Krokowski. He went to Constableville Elementary School, and graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1973. After graduation, he attended Jefferson Community College for a year. He was a partner with his father and brother on the family farm for several years. On February 18, 1978, he married Donna Jean Gaylord at Turin United Methodist Church. Karl returned to Jefferson Community College and finished his accounting degree. He started his own business, North Country Tax and Records in 1984, retiring from the business in 2010. Karl started an accounting business, Krokowski, Inc., this year with his son Andy. Karl was a member Salem Christian Fellowship, Beaver Falls. He was a member and Director Emeritus of the Lewis County Agricultural Society, where he also served as treasurer for many years. He was on the board of directors and served as treasurer of the Lewis County Historical Society for many years. He was co-founder of AYSO in the South Lewis Area. Karl was a motivational speaker at Kid’s Kamp at South Lewis Central School for many summers, where he spoke to the children about adversity. His motto at Kid’s Kamp, and throughout his life, was “We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails”. Karl sang in barbershop quartets, enjoyed writing, and being in community theatre productions at South Lewis Central School. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and friends.
