Beatrice Carmen Roberts

March 31, 1922 to November 12, 2013

Boonville - Beatrice Carmen Roberts, 91, formerly of Kortenaer Village Apartments, passed away peacefully at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on November 12, 2013.

The daughter of Thomas D. Mulhearn of Utica, and Elizabeth "Betty" Longway of Turin, she was born in Utica on March 31, 1922.  Beatrice was a graduate of the Palmer Method Beauty School, and employed her skills at the Elite Beauty Shop in Utica.  During WWII she also worked at Savage Arms.

Beatrice married Daryl J. Carmen of Old Forge on November 11, 1944 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Utica.  She has lived in Syracuse, West Leyden, Rome, Bradenton, FL, and in Old Forge where she served as Matron of the O.E.S. Chapter #449.

Following her divorce from Daryl she was married to Thomas Roberts of Rome in 1975.  Mr. Roberts passed away in 1988.

Beatrice is survived by her sons, Richard Daryl and Thomas Earl, both of Alder Creek, five grandchildren; AD2 Richard D. Carmen II USN, Le Moore NAS, CA, AE2 Matthew T. Carmen USN (Res), Chazy, NY, Candice M. Carmen, Waterville, NY, Melissa Kendall, and Austin Thomas (KImberly) Carmen, both of Port Leyden, three great-granddaughters; Addison Grace Carmen, King George, VA, and Andrea and Samantha Carmen, both of Port Leyden.

A memorial service and interment will be held in the spring of 2014 at Turin Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.

LOWVILLE – Beverly J. Bourgeois, 80, formerly of Domser Road, Talcottville, died Monday morning, November 18, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Brenda J. Bourgeois, where she was under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Garden Fund, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

She is survived by nine children and their spouses, Mary C. and Harvey Ingersoll of Lowville; Diane L. Mulligan of Lowville; Patricia J. Markham and her companion Rick Hoskins of Lyons Falls; William E. and Lorraine Bourgeois of Boonville; Ray A. Bourgeois of Las Vegas, NV; Richard J. and Brenda L. Bourgeois of Lyons Falls; Brenda J. Bourgeois of Lowville; Thomas E. and Darlene Bourgeois of Remsen; Lisa A. and Patrick Anson of Marcy; a brother and a sister, William Forkell, and Louise Brummett of Fulton; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Mrs. Bourgeois was predeceased by her husband, William V. Bourgeois, who died August 18, 2005; a son, John A. Bourgeois, who died July 20, 1981; a granddaughter, Catherine E. “Katy” Stefhon-Allen, who died September 11, 2004; her mother, Myrtle Forkell; her father and stepmother, Ernest and Lillian Forkell; and by two brothers, Ernest Forkell and Louis Forkell.

Beverly was born on June 14, 1933 in Watertown, NY, a daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtle Benwitz Forkell, and the step-daughter of the late Lillian Forkell. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Watertown, and Watertown High School. On October 24, 1951, she married William V. Bourgeois in Constableville. Mrs. Bourgeois was a homemaker and mother to ten children. She lived in Talcottville all of her married life, moving to Lowville in April, 2006, she resided with Diane Mulligan and Brenda J. Bourgeois.

Mrs. Bourgeois was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville. She enjoyed reading and her puzzle books, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Daniel W. Hall

Boonville- Daniel W. Hall, 48 of Eastern Rock Road, passed away suddenly on November 16, 2013 following an automobile accident on Route 46, Boonville.

He was born on June 17, 1965 in New Hartford, NY a son of Robert and Ann Otter Hall. He grew up in Old Forge and graduated from Town of Webb High School in 1983. He operated the Arco Gas Station with his father in Old Forge. He was employed with Herkimer County Highway Department, Old Forge and a trail groomer in Old Forge at the Packer Shack. He also operated a logging and firewood business. Dan was employed at Davidson Chevrolet, Boonville for over twenty years in the sales department. In May of 2004 Dan married Deborah Nichols.

Dan enjoyed horseback riding at Adirondack Corral, NASCAR racing and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He loved his canine companions, especially bear, who was at his side constantly. He was a member of the Boonville Elk’s Lodge and a past member of the Old Forge Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah; his former wife, Sharon Nahor and their two daughters, Heather Hall, Verona and Cindy Hall, Florida; his mother and step father, Ann and Jim Eisenhut, Waterville; his father and stepmother, Robert and Ann Hall, Big Moose; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Brenda Hall, Edinburg, Pa., one sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Tim Glisson, Manlius, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Patty Nichols, Spencer, Massachusetts; nieces , nephews and many friends, his 4-H family of past and present and special friend, Michelle Bailey (Red).

A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post, Boonville, NY with Rev. Sean O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Jane E. Lehman

LOWVILLE- Jane E. Lehman, 94, formerly of Valley View Courts, died Friday morning, November 15, 2013 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where she has resided since October 17, 2013.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, with Rev. Bruce Chartrand and Rev. Evan Zehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Lewis County Search and Rescue, P.O. Box 247, Lowville, NY 13367.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, Sandra and Carl Mondillo of Oneonta; Jerrie Ann and Neil Brownell of West Monroe; Stanley J. “Jim” and Sandi Lehman of Lowville; Katherine and John T. “Tom” Irish of Cary, N.C.; Timothy R. Lehman and Thomas Howard of Watertown; Thomas N. and Michelle Lehman of Glenfield; ten grandchildren, Tammy Whidden, Jo Ann Simmons, Brooke Pouliot, Joshua Lehman, Mitchell Irish, Ryan Irish, Stanley “Chip” Lehman, Timothy J. Lehman, David E. Lehman, Mikayla Lehman, four great-grandchildren, twins, Sean and Christina (children of Ryan Irish); Noah and Ava Jane (children of Joshua and Kara Lehman), nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Stanley Merrit Lehman and a brother, James E. Nelson.

Mrs. Lehman was born on July 23, 1919 in New York, NY, a daughter of the late Edward and Hattie Kennedy Nelson and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1939. On October 18, 1939, she married Stanley Merrit Lehman at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lowville with Rev. Walter Bennett officiating. Together with her husband, owned and operated a dairy farm on the Vary Road, Town of Harrisburg, from 1945-1973, when the couple moved to Shady Avenue. They moved to Valley View Courts in 1985. Mr. Lehman died on April 6, 1991. The couple accepted foster children over the years.
She was a longtime member of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen.
Jane was an avid painter and seamstress. She loved to paint and sew gifts for family and friends. Jane enjoyed cooking, and socializing with her family and friends.
