September 14, 1939 to October 14, 2013
Boonville-Judith C. Alm, 74, of the West Leyden Road passed away October 14, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
She was born in Utica, N.Y. on September 14, 1939 a daughter of Robert and Doris Entwistle Evans. Judy grew up in Hinckley and graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1957 and on May 1, 1958 she married Robert F. Alm Sr. at St. Leo’s Church, Holland Patent. The couple moved to Boonville to the West Leyden Road in 1965. Mr. Alm died July 18, 1991.
For twenty years she was employed for Oneida County Cooperative Extension. She enjoyed watching Yankee baseball, reading, playing cards and studying the scriptures of God.
She is survived by her children, Robert F. Alm Jr., Rochester, NY, Timothy and Patricia Alm, Boonville, Tamera Alm, Barneveld, Anna and Matthew Engstrom, Barneveld and Patricia and Mike Winters, Boonville; grandchildren, Hope Alm, Jackson and Hayden Alm, William Smith, Cody and Ashley Engstrom and Michael, Rachel, Nicholas and Tiffany Winters; two great grandchildren, Tory Miller and Abigail Winters; three brothers, Richard (Clair) Evans, Tiverton, Rhode Island, John (Bonnie) Evans, Sauquoit and Thomas (Audrey) Evans, New Hartford and one sister, Gail (Barrett) Wells, Remsen. She was predeceased by a son Richard Thomas Alm, a sister, Beth Ann Kirk and a brother, Robert J. Evans.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Bible Fellowship Church, Lyons Falls with Pastor Jeff Ford officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

October 5, 1941 to August 31, 2013
Sacramento CA- Jerry F. Mashaw, 71, a former resident of the Port Leyden area and husband of Sheryl, passed away on August 31, 2013, at Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Carmichael, California.
Mr. Mashaw was born in Lowville, on October 5, 1941, a son Norman and Joyce MacDougall Mashaw. He grew up in Port Leyden, where he graduated from Port Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1960. In January, 1966, Jerry moved to Sacramento, Ca. with his family, where he had since lived. On December 20, 1970, he was united in marriage with Sheryl Wittig in Sacramento, CA. From 1967 until his retirement in 1996, Mr. Mashaw was employed at Mercy General Hospital, Sacramento, first as a baker for several years, and then in the hospital engineering department.
In addition to his wife, Sheryl, he is survived by a brother, Keith Mashaw, Sacramento, and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday, October 15, at 1 P.M. at Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.

Lyons Falls- Ronald D. Dorn, 77, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2013 at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.
Ronald was born in Boonville, NY on September 9, 1936 a son of Charles and Elaine Marcy Dorn. He grew up and attended school in Boonville. He married Grovene Foster which ended in divorce. Ronald joined the U.S. Army and then worked for Georgia Pacific retiring from Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper after 41 years of service. Ronald was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Lowville and the Boonville Elks Lodge. He enjoyed watching Yankee baseball, tinkering in his backyard on his backhoe and tractors and watching racing at the Evan-Mills Speedway.
Surviving are his mother, Elaine Smith, Boonville; four daughters, Rhonda Munoz, Lyons Falls, Christine Dorn-Steria, Croghan , Elaine Dorn, Sacketts Harbor and Marcyann Dorn, Lyons Falls; one son, Charlie Dorn, Lyons Falls; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Jolene and Jackie Steria, Reann and Rebecca Munoz, Ella Dorn and Phillip Stacy; one great granddaughter, Danica Swem and three brothers, Wayne Dorn, Clear Water, Fla., Kirby Dorn, Boonville and Francis Dorn, Lewes, Delaware and a special friend, Patty Hulbert, Lowville.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Woodgate- John B. Isley, 60, of Route 28, lifelong resident of Woodgate, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, after complications of heart disease.
Mr. Isley was President of North Country Communications; an advertising firm that was well known for its over forty year history in the local radio and newspaper industry. He was currently Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Forestport and had served as town historian for many years.
John was born in Constableville on July 7, 1953, a son of Harold D. and Margaret Lane Isley. He graduated from the Town of Webb schools, Old Forge, and began his career in radio broadcasting at WBRV, Boonville at the age of thirteen.
He started his career by hosting the Tiger John Rock radio program on WBRV, later becoming the station news director. John also became the general news editor for the Boonville Herald, where he covered two large stories, the Moss Lake Indian Affair and the SAVAK Iranian development in Boonville for United Press International. He also was presented the International Journalism Award for his coverage of captive American Prisoners of War, by project Freedom, an organization of which he was a founding member of while assisting President Regan's National Security Council at the White House. At the age of seven he started printing the Woodgate Town and Country News and did so through his high schools years. In 1981, Isley started his own advertising agency and has served as its president since.
Mr. Isley also served as Chief of Woodgate Volunteer Fire Department, Secretary, and Captain and was the department's first emergency medical technician. Prior to the formation of the Woodgate Fire Dept. in 1993, he served as secretary and captain of the Forestport Fire Fighters, having dedicated nearly fifty years to the fire and EMS services of the area. Isley also served as secretary of the board of directors and emergency medical technician for the Prospect Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Isley was also President of the Woodgate Library Board of Trustees and was responsible for the new addition to the library in 1994. Isley also served as President of the Woodgate Community Hall, President of the Woodgate Cemetery Board of Trustees, was a member of the White Otter Fish & Game Club, and was responsible for their new complex built in 1997. Mr. Isley was a past member of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department Auxiliary Division, New York State's Adirondack Rail Line Advisory Committee, which was instrumental in the development of the Adirondack Scenic Railway. Isley was also President of the Woodgate Citizens Committee and President of the Recreation in Oneida County Committee. Isley was instrumental in obtaining funds for the construction of the new Woodgate Fire Stations and its equipment, the Woodgate AT&T cell site, the Woodgate Post Office and the Woodgate Community Hall.John had several cousins including: George V. Isley, California, Verna Weiler, Frankfort, Raymond, Burton, and Dale Griffith, all of Hawkinsville, Edward Murphy, Boonville, Patrick Fergurson, Barneveld, and Kathleen Gydesen, Forestport.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, at 1:00 pm, at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Interment will be private in the Woodgate Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in memory of John to the Woodgate Library, the Woodgate Community Hall or to the Prospect Volunteer Ambulance Service.
