LOWVILLE – David F. Moselle, 84, of Trinity Ave., Lowville, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours will be from 3 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; five children and their spouses, Dr. Bruce M. and Darlene Moselle of Granville; Terry J. Moselle of Parish; Christine A. and James Martin of Liverpool; Nancy J. and Tony Sanchez of El Cajon, CA; Mary Lou and Thomas Meiss of Lowville; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Helen Zehr of Woodville; nieces, nephews and cousins; He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Courtney Moselle; a brother, Lewis Moselle and a sister, Ann M. Hall.
David was born on August 7, 1928 in the Town of New Bremen, NY, a son of the late Frank and Cecile J. Henry Moselle. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948. He married Marie Elizabeth Burnap on April 7, 1951 at Forest Presbyterian Church, Lyons Falls. The marriage ended in divorce. He worked for Clarke Jondrow at Shell Oil in Lowville, delivering oil from 1948-1952, then owned Dave’s Oil Service from 1952-1957. Then working for Halko Fuels in Lowville and Carthage as manager and delivery person from 1957-1960, until the business was sold. He then worked for Ted Smith at Lowville Fuels as a truck driver from 1960-1963. David began working with Prudential Insurance Company in 1963 until his retirement in 1994. On November 20, 1993, he married Leona Card Pignone at First Presbyterian Church in Lowville, with Rev. John Schuck officiating.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lowville. He was a member of the Beaver River Memorial Post #1663, Croghan American Legion, BPOE #1605, Lowville Lodge since 1990. David was a member of the Northern Cruisers Car Club in Lowville since 1995. He received the “Salesman of the Year” award from Prudential Insurance Company and was qualified for Prudential Sales Conferences for 24 years. He enjoyed attending Black River Valley Fiddlers events, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.

Boonville- Lorraine D. (Hoffman) McCanney, 69, of Jackson Hill Road, widow of Donald, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Bay State Medical Center, Springfield, MA, after a long illness. She was born in Port Leyden, on February 21, 1944, a daughter of Kenneth and Pearl Kiser Hoffman, and received her education at Port Leyden High School. On July 3, 1965, Lorraine was united in marriage with Donald J. McCanney; after that the couple lived on Mohawk Hill, near Constableville. For forty years she was employed as a seamstress at Lally Manufacturing Co. of Port Leyden; after that company closed she was employed for a time at Johnstown Knitting Mill in Glenfield. During the 1980'she and Don operated Don's Country Store in Talcottville, where they also lived. Later they moved to West Road in the Town of Leyden, before she moved to her present home near Boonville. Mr. McCanney, a Navy Seaman in the Korean Conflict, and a retired heavy equipment operator, died on January 3, 1997. Mrs. McCanney was of the Catholic Faith and a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Boonville. She loved to play cards.She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Rebecca and James Jackson, two sons and a daughter in law, James J, and Randall J. and Jeannine, all of Boonville, five granddaughters, Brittany and Nichole Jackson (Lee Kraeger) Ashley (Andrew Clement) Erika and Mikayla McCanney, two great granddaughters, Aerilyn and Sophie, two great grandsons, Olin and Nolan, and her special friend, Walt Bickford, Boonville; two brothers, Gary (Theresa) Hoffman, Port Leyden, Richard Hoffman, Lowville; and one sister, Diane (Tom) LaQuay, Stittville, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James Hoffman; and sisters, Linda, and twins Jean Hoffman and Jane Manning. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Boonville- Edward A. Rybicky, 88, a lifelong resident of Fish Creek Road, West Leyden, passed away on June 21, 2013.
He was born on Christmas Day to Anthony and Elizabeth Rybicky. After serving in the Navy in World War II, he married Regina Cihocki, a union that lasted 60 years, until she passed away on November 17, 2010. He was employed for a short time by the N.Y. State Department of Conservation and Revere Copper and Brass. Most of his life was devoted to working the family farm until he retired in 1983. In 1969, he was honored as the Lewis County Conservation Farmer of the Year. Edward also served as town supervisor and county legislator for district 10 until 1980. Upon his retirement he spent his remaining years in Boonville. While there he was a member of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion # 406, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW, both of Boonville, and a Charter member of the Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158.Edward is survived by his children: Sharon (Wayne) Cunningham of Utica; Allen (Debbie) Rybicky, Harpersfield, NY, and Dale Rybicky of Danville, KY. In addition he leaves six grandchildren: Ryan (Beth) Cunningham, Fairfield, CA, Teela Cunningham, Atlanta, GA, Corinne Cunningham, Manlius, NY, Shawna Cunningham, Utica, NY, Brian Rybicky, Eureka, CA, and Justin Rybicky of Harpersfield, NY. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, who called him "Uncle Ed." He was predeceased by three brothers: Frank, Anthony and Chester, and a sister, Helen Ludwikowski. Remembrances in Edward's name may be made to the American Heart Association C/O Heart Gifts Processing Center PO box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. The family wishes to thank the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, and Bertha Goodhines, who was a devoted caregiver. His Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Boonville- Linda S. Pfendler, 59, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on June 16, 2013.
She was born on June 21, 1953 in Constableville, NY, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Kolodciej Pfendler. She lived on the family farm on the East Ava Road for many years and enjoyed listening to music and attending Schoonmaker Day Treatment Center, Boonville. She currently lived at the Port Leyden IRA. A special thanks to Dr. Matthews and the nursing unit on the 5th floor at St. Luke’s Hospital for the wonderful care given to Linda as well as I.C.U. at Lewis County General Hospital.
Surviving are three brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Norene Pfendler, Holland Patent and Dick and Mike Pfendler of Boonville; three sisters, Patricia Steria and Florence Sasenbury, both of Boonville and Deborah Millick, Rome; a sister-in-law, Jane Pfendler, Boonville and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by a brother Edward Pfendler in January 1994.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville with Rev. Sean O’Brien as celebrant. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville will be (today) Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Erwin Library, Boonville.
