Betty Kathleen Gamble

February 29, 1924 to April 23, 2013

Lyons Falls- Betty Kathleen Gamble, 89, a former long time resident of Washington St. Copenhagen, and more recently of Cherry St. Lyons Falls, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since November, 2008.

Betty was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, on February 29, 1924, a daughter of William and Esther Sage Harvey. She received her education in Kingston, moving to the United States after her marriage to Herschel Gamble, on March 15, 1941, in Kingston, Ontario. For over thirty years the couple lived in Copenhagen, where she was employed in the Copenhagen Central School Cafeteria. Later the couple moved to Watertown and Carthage. Her husband, a retired high school science teacher at Copenhagen Central School, died on January 1, 1991. After that Mrs. Gamble moved to Lyons Falls, residing on Cherry St.

She was a member of the Copenhagen United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing the piano. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Gamble is survived by three sons, Ernest (Donna) Gamble, Germantown, NY, Harvey, Albany, Clair (Joan) Gamble, Glens Falls; two daughters, Colleen M. (Andrew) Bechard, Port Leyden, Debra Gamble, Syracuse; five grandchildren, and eight great children. She was predeceased by two granddaughters. The last of her family, she was predeceased by four brothers, Lawrence, William, Charles, Horace; and by three sisters, Nellie, May and Jean.

Her Funeral will be Wednesday, May 1, at 3:00 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Robert Dean, of the Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen. Calling hours are Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until the funeral.
