BEACHES BRIDGE - Joseph P. Kafline, 88, of Snell Road, Beaches Bridge, died Friday morning, May 3, 2013, at his home, under care of his family, his caregivers, and Lewis County Hospice.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 6, 2013 in Beaches Bridge Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Joe is survived by five children. Three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Janice Kafline of Lowville; Robert and Pennie Kafline of Lowville; Francis Kafline of Leesburg, FL; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Francis Yousey of Ava; Carolyn Widrick of Lowville, who was instrumental in making it possible for Joe to remain at home, where he wanted to be. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher, Vicki, James, Jeffrey and Jenna; two step-grandsons, Josh and Micah; and three great grandchildren, Jack, Courtney and Hayli.

Mr. Kafline was born in Brooklyn on August 29, 1924, the son of the late Peter and Pauline Kaczynski Kafline. Joe served in the United States Army, and was a past member and past Commander of the Lowville American Legion Post #162. He lived most of his adult life in the Lowville area. Joe worked as a mechanic, and in other various jobs connected with the automotive business. A marriage to Jennie Wawrzyniak ended in divorce.
