Turin-Clara Margaret (Mathis) Vrubel, 87, passed away on July 20, 2014.
Clara was born in Turin on June 6, 1927. She married Joseph Vrubel on April 20, 1946 at the Turin Methodist Church. She worked in the cafeteria at South Lewis School and was a farmer’s wife working on the farm. Clara enjoyed working in the garden, crocheting and working on puzzles.
She is survived by a son, John (Kathleen) Vrubel of Palmyra; a daughter, Patricia (James) Logan of Maine; two grandchildren, Sarah (Christopher) Tome and Adam (Johanna) Vrubel as well as two great grandchildren, Elise and Jonathan Tome. Clara is also survived by her three sisters, Anna Mae Purdy, Mildred Hemak and Helen (Robert) Archer; one brother Fred Mathis and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph, of 67 years, on October 31, 2013, parents, John and Mae Mathis and three brothers, Earl, Harry and Raymond Mathis.
A graveside service will be held at the Turin Cemetery on Saturday, August 2, at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Lewis County Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mills Funeral Home, Boonville.
