Boonville-Lawrence E. Ernst, 80 of West Street passed away on February 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica.

He was born in the Town of Leyden on May 11, 1936, a son of Nelson and Bertha Kotary Ernst. He grew up at the Locust Grove farm and graduated from Port Leyden High School in 1953. While in high school he played basketball and baseball, was secretary and treasurer of F.F.A. and was on the yearbook portal staff. He entered the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Barbara Lallier which ended in divorce. He was employed with Agway in Boonville for a few years and then retired in 1999 as a janitor from Adirondack Central School. Larry enjoyed baseball, football and watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his children, Curtis and Alison Ernst, N.C., Lonny Ernst, Colleen and Gary Grow, Russell and Robin Roberts and Shelly and Eric Gillespie, all of Boonville; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Keith Ernst, Port Leyden.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes there will be no services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Boonville Ambulance Fund. Arrangements are by Mills Funeral Home, Boonville.
